Bicknell's Thrush (fledgling)
Catharus bicknelli
Mt. Mitchell, Christmas Mountains, New Brunswick
9 July 2010
It is an exciting time when the chicks finally leave the nest. Usually that is the last time you see them, but occasionally the chicks stay close to the nest and are relocated. This chick was located only a few feet from the nest site, sitting on a balsam fir branch. A quick look at its band revealed it to be #2291-38985, the first of the four Bicknell's chicks to fledge.
