Brant Goose "Light-bellied" subspecies Branta bernicla hrota Andrew Haydon Park, Ottawa, Ontario 2 June 2009 Brant are small geese, only a little bit larger than your typical mallard.  The two brant feeding at Andrew Haydon were often bullied and chased away by the larger Canada geese.

Brant Goose "Light-bellied" subspecies Branta bernicla hrota Andrew Haydon Park, Ottawa, Ontario 2 June 2009 Having spotted a large flock of at least 100 brant flying over the Ottawa River earlier in the day, I was thrilled to find two brant mingling with dozens of Canada geese at Andrew Haydon Park.  This was my first up-close look at this species, and the two brant were very accommodating.
